About Askole Village

Askole is the historic last inhabited village of the Shigar Valley in Baltistan. Beyond Askole, there are no permanent human settlements, roads, or electricity—only raw wilderness, the thundering Braldu River, and the massive Baltoro Glacier leading directly to Concordia and K2. Every major climbing expedition to the Karakoram giants passes through the stone-walled alleys of Askole.

How to Get There

6 to 8 hours by 4x4 rugged jeep from Skardu through the Shigar Valley along the Braldu River gorge.
